Cosmos! Hallelujah!

This is inspired by the TV presentation: "Cosmos"
c.Cait Finnegan 2014
 You can guess the melody.

We look above, we look below

We search within our highs and lows

And wonder if You do exist now, do You?

Some want You to be Puppet King

Controlling each and everything

Instead, we sing a humble Hallelujah!

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

The Cosmos we may understand

And come to recognize Your hand

Yet dare we never claim we really knew You!

To think a story captures all—

Our pride that comes before our fall

Just let creation sing its Hallelujah!

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

A tiny god kept under locks

In our own image, in a box,

Proclaiming all the while devotion to You.

Your stories meant to transform us

To help remember what we must

Have blinded us and muffled Hallelujah!

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Your Spirit groans within, without

Inspires minds to look about

And marvel, living in, and with, and through You.

The little mind will try to bind

Rather than to seek and find You

In this mystery we call Hallelujah!

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

As scientists explore this world

Religious mysteries are unfurled

Yet deeper still the love that we give to You.

As everything we’re learning now

Compels us more to deeply bow

And let release an awe-filled Hallelujah!

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

All creation sings Your praise

The Cosmos, in such wondrous ways

Is telling secrets—that we hardly knew You.

The beating of Your heart about

Is sensed within and heard without

With every new discovery, Hallelujah!

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

The little book of stories told

The picture book that we behold

Combine that we might know we’re closer to You

Eye has not seen, nor has ear heard

The glory of the Eternal Word

Our minds have not yet grasped that Hallelujah!

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah

    1. Beth, I am so happy you like it. I have not recorded it, but am pulling some instruments together and greasing my vocal chords which are growing old. Will let you know when it's done.
